Marras- ja joulukuu 2025 / November-December 2025

Huh! Mikä vuoden lopetus. En ole eläessäni ollut niin loppu kuin mitä tänä vuonna. Loppuvuosi menikin suuressa osin hieman sumussa ja vain päivästä toiseen jaksaessa. Loppuvuosi oli hyvä muistutus siitä, että itselle täytyy järjestää myös huilitaukoja, mutta se ei aina ole niin helppoa. Joulukuu oli äärimmäisen raskas töissä. Minulla on 29 oppilaan luokka ja sain tietää, että joulun jälkeen luokkaani tulee kaksi uutta oppilasta. Todistukset jaettiin koulun viimeisenä päivänä, joten arvosanat piti saada sisään. Luokallani oli aamunavaus itsenäisyyspäivänä, joten se piti hoitaa. Minun luokkani esitti teatteriesityksen joulujuhlassa, joten se piti löytää ja valmistella. Hommaa riitti! Tulin muutamana päivänä töistä kotiin ja purskahdin itkuun. Petteri ihmetteli, että mikä on, johon vastaus oli, että väsy. Väsyttää ihan hirveästi! Olin aivan puhki! 

// Phew! What a way to end the year. I have never been as exhausted as I am this year. The last bit of the year was like a blur and I was just surviving from day to day. The rest of the year was a good reminder that you need to take breaks for yourself, but it's not always that easy. December was extremely busy at work. I have a class of 29 students and I found out that two new students will be joining my class after Christmas. The report cards were handed out on the last day of school, so I had to get the grades in. My class had a matinee on Independence Day, so I had to take care of that. My class was performing a theater performance at the Christmas celebration, so I had to find a manuscript and prepare the act. There was so much to do! A few times I came home from work and burst into tears. Petteri wondered what was wrong, to which I replied that I was tired. I was really tired! I was completely exhausted!

Hyvin huomasi, että kroppa ja pää ei ole saanut tarvittavia taukoja kotona, sillä kotona ollessa on myös ollut paljon tekemistä. Oltiin juuri saatu pihavarasto valmiiksi, jonka jälkeen kannettiin klapit yhdestä puupinosta varastoon sisälle. Tämän jälkeen pystyimme myös rakentamaan ja kiinnittämään portin takapihallemme ja näin ollen saatiin aita täysin valmiiksi. Meidän toinen puupino oli siis hienosti kasattuna juuri portin kohdalle, eikä täten saatu porttia tehtyä aitaa rakentaessa. Kun saatiin takapiha tältä erää valmiiksi, alkoi meillä kattoremontti taloyhtiössä. Metelin määrä oli aikamoinen, mutta homma valmistui onneksi vajaassa kahdessa viikossa. Hyvää työtä tekivät Kattokeskuksen tyypit. 

// It was very noticeable that my body and mind haven't had the necessary breaks at home, because there has also been a lot to do while I'm at home. We had just finished building the yard storage, after which we carried firewood from one of the wood piles into the storage. After this, we were also able to build and attach a gate to our backyard, and thus the fence was completely finished. So our second wood pile was nicely stacked right in front of the gate. When we finished this part of the backyard,  the roof renovation started. There was quite a bit of fuss, but fortunately the job was completed in less than two weeks. The guys from Kattokeskus did a great job.

Pienen tauon sain kun kävin ystäväni Alexandran kanssa Helsingissä syömässä Allas Seagrill ravintolassa. Iso peukutus tälle! Asiakaspalvelu ja ruoka oli erinomaista ja ilta ystävän kanssa toi ihanan pienen breikin arkeen. 

// I got a little break when I went to eat at the Allas Seagrill restaurant in Helsinki with my friend Alexandra. Big thumbs up for this! The customer service and food were excellent and the evening with a friend brought a lovely little break from everyday life.

Nukuin viimeisen kouluviikon aikana ainoastaan pätkittäin muutamia tunteja ja näin paljon painajaisia jotka liittyivät töihin. Olen aina ollut todella hyvä nukkuja, enkä juuri näe unia (tai siis en muista niitä). Petteri sanookin aina, että jos voisi minulta ottaa jotain niin ottaisi minun unenlahjani. 19 joulukuuta oli viimeinen työpäiväni. Olin nukkunut taas muutaman tunnin ja työpäivän jälkeen lähdettiin Petterin kanssa ajamaan kohti Oulua, jossa yöpyisimme hotellissa. Tämä oli tärkeä matka sillä päämäärämme oli Kemi, josta hakisimme meidän uuden perheenjäsenen. Onneksi meillä on Petterin kanssa molemmilla ajokortit, niin sain nukuttua aina välillä autossa. En siis koskaan nuku päiväunia, en vaan pysty siihen. Noh, nyt pystyin. Hyvä niin!

// During the last week of school, I only slept for a few hours at a time and had a lot of nightmares related to work. I've always been a really good sleeper, and I don't really dream (or at least I don't remember them). Petteri always says that if he could take anything from me, he would take my gift of sleep. December 19th was my last day at work. I slept for a few hours again and after work, Petteri and I drove towards Oulu where we would stay the night at a hotel. This was an important trip because our destination was Kemi, where we would pick up our new family member. Luckily, Petteri and I both have driving licenses, so I was able to sleep in the car from time to time. I never nap, I just can't do it. Well, now I was able to. Good!

Heräsimme lauantaina 20 joulukuuta innoissamme. Söimme aamupalaa ja jatkoimme matkaa Kemiin. Jännitys autossa alkoi nousta kun lähestyimme Kemiä. Petteri saisi ensimmäisen koiransa ja minä ensimmäisen tyttökoiran. Tykkääköhän pentu meistä? Onko meillä kemiaa keskenään? Mitä jos kasvattaja ei pidäkään meistä? Jännitys kaikkosi onneksi heti kun näimme meidän neidin. Meidän pieni tytöntyllerö tuli heti minua tervehtimään ja kiipesi syliin. Olimme odottaneet tätä pentua jo 1,5 vuotta. Tapasimme kasvattajan ja äitikoira-Linan Rukan reissulla, pienellä karhunkierroksella ja ihastuimme Linaan. Koiranpentumme saikin nimekseen Ruka tämän kohtaamisen ansiosta. Luimme koikkereista (kooikerhondjesta) lisää ja totesimme, että rotu voisi olla meille täydellinen. 

// We woke up excited on Saturday, December 20th. We had breakfast and continued our journey to Kemi. The nervousness in the car started to rise as we approached Kemi. Petteri would get his first dog and I would get my first girl dog. Will the puppy like us? Do we have chemistry? What if the breeder doesn't like us? Fortunately, all the nervousness disappeared as soon as we saw our little girl. Our little baby girl came to greet me right away and climbed into my arms. We had been waiting for this puppy for 1.5 years. We met the breeder and mother dog Lina on a trip to Ruka, on a small bear tour, and we fell in love with Lina. Our puppy got her name “Ruka” because of this meeting. We read more about the Koikerhondje and decided that the breed could be perfect for us.

Meidän pieni Ruka matkasi pitkän 9 tunnin matkan takaisin kotiin mallikkaasti. Suurimman osan nukkuen. Autosta onkin tullut yksi Rukan lempipaikoista, jossa saa aina hyvät nokoset. Käytiin Rukan kanssa heti seuraavana päivänä joulukuusen haussa Petterin porukoiden kanssa. Ruka sai ensimmäistä kertaa ihmetellä nuotiota kodassa, missä hän sai elämänsä ensimmäisen grillimakkaran. 

// Our little Ruka made the long 9-hour journey back home in style. Most of the time she slept. The car has become one of Ruka's favorite places, where she can always take a good nap. The next day we went looking for a Christmas tree with Petteri's family. Ruka got to marvel at the campfire in the hut for the first time, where she had his first grilled sausage.

Sain Petteriltä mitä parhaimmat joululahjat. Olen tarkka siitä, että asunto on siisti ja puhdas, mutta inhoan siivoamista. Petteri ostikin minulle robottiimurin, jotta päästään kotiaskareissa helpommalla. Ihanaa! Lisää tällaisia lahjoja kiitos! 😀 En ole mikään playstation pelaaja, mutta tykästyin viime vuonna Witcher-peliin. Sen olen kuitenkin nyt pelannut, joten Petteri hankki meille Hogwarts Legacy pelin, joka on todella hyvä. Näin olen pystynyt istumaan ja rauhoittumaan joululoman aikana ja lataamaan omia akkuja. 

I got the best Christmas presents from Petteri. I'm particular about keeping our home neat and clean, but I hate cleaning. Petteri bought me a robot vacuum cleaner so that we can get through the housework more easily. Wonderful! More gifts like this please! 😀 I'm not a PlayStation player, but I liked the Witcher game last year. I've played it through now, so Petteri bought us the Hogwarts Legacy game, which is really good. This way I've been able to sit and calm down during the Christmas holidays and recharge my own batteries.

Ollaan yritetty tehdä Rukan kanssa vaikka ja mitä jotta hän tottuisi kaikkeen. Muutamat ystävät ovat käyneet meillä koiriensa kanssa leikkitreffeillä. Kiitos siitä heille! Uutena vuotena oltiin ihan vain kotosalla, jolloin nähtiin miten Ruka reagoi rakettien paukkeeseen. Ei muuten reagoi mitenkään. Ystäväni Alexandra tuli meille ja vietettiin ihana ilta viiniä juoden ja Mexican train:ia pelaten. Tähän kohtaan onkin hyvä toivottaa sinulle oikein hyvää uutta vuotta ja kaikkea hyvää vuodelle 2026! 

// We have tried to do everything with Ruka so that she gets used to everything. Several friends have visited us with their dogs on play dates. Thank you to them for that! On New Year's Eve we were just at home, so we could see how Ruka reacts to the fireworks. She didn't react at all. My friend Alexandra came to us and we spent a wonderful evening drinking wine and playing Mexican Train. And with this, I want to wish you a very happy new year and all the best for 2026!
